I met Amanda through our mutual inspiring friend Linda Joy. When Amanda and I spoke, we connected immediately and deeply – sharing some of the same thoughts, beliefs, values and passion to help others. I love that Amanda is passionate about helping families as a unit because that is an area so many can use some assistance in. I love that Amanda walks her talk and it was through her own experience that she learned valuable lessons about self-love, self-care and showing up for her family as her best self. Amanda is genuine and generous. Amanda offers many tools that can help busy moms take care of themselves to step into the joy of being a mom instead of the stress and worry that sometimes accompanies the role. Amanda leads by example as a happily married mother of four girls and business owner. She is a testament to, “You CAN have it all” and “You deserve it!” She helps others get to where they may have never dreamed their family life could be. It is an honor and my pleasure to bring you Amanda Hinman!

1) Please tell us a quote that you aim to live by- whether it be your own or from someone else that has inspired you.
“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” ~ Anais Nin
This quote is very meaningful to me especially as I have been living a journey of self-discovery over the past 4 years. I have discovered that many things in my life which I had previously judged either positively or negatively provided the opportunities for the largest growth and expansion. As, my life has shown different experiences my perspectives on being a wife, a mom, a daughter, a friend, a sister have shifted and I now see that my interpretation changes depending on who I am or what is happening in my life at the time. This quote is a great reminder that we attract more of what we are and chose to focus on in life, which is very empowering!
2) Tell us about a moment when one of your greatest shifts occurred in your life or in one of your clients’ lives.
It was a rainy afternoon in April. The weather outside the hospital room window mirrored my despair as I listened to the pediatric neurologist explain why my 8 year-old daughter needed a seizure medication with 4 pages of possible negative side effects. I felt sick to my stomach. I looked over to see my daughter’s petite silhouette laying in the hospital bed, her body completely drained in the aftermath of her fourth seizure. My stomach clenched in knots and my head swirled.
I had been unknowingly role-modeling for my daughter how to “do everything right” at the expense of listening to my body. I focused on others perceptions, rather than my own well-being. She followed my example when her anxious thoughts increased to the point of causing seizures.
The next four months were a roller-coaster. I lived like a jack-n-the-box alternating between feeling hopeful we had found something to help my daughter and then completely devastated as her seizures intensified. I sought out second opinions, made drastic changes to our family’s diet, took her to a chiropractor and a therapist. Every fiber in my being was fighting to rebuild her health. However, the flurry of action wasn’t having the impact I’d hoped for. She continued to have seizures, now as many as 10-15 in a day. She was taking 4 different seizures medications, (12 pills a day) and I no longer recognized my once passionate and witty girl, as she was now distant and lethargic, side-effects from the mediations.
I had ZERO energy left to do anything more for my daughter. I was so focused on doing everything I could for her and I was exhausted, so I did the only thing I could think of at that time…I enrolled in a coaching program for myself. Yes I did. I made the decision to invest in me.
With determination and certainty that I needed to feel better so that I could be a better mom for our daughters, I stood in my power and told my husband that I needed to make this investment in myself. Ironically it came at a time when our future was completely uncertain.
THIS CHANGED MY LIFE AND MY FAMILY’S LIFE FOR GOOD
The amazing thing was, once I embraced it, doing something for me felt ENERGIZING! I became inspired. I looked forward to the time I was spending learning new perspectives, discovering how to release some of my rigid judgements and soften. I let go of underlying resentment I felt when previously my kids and my husband seemed to ‘tune me out’ and learned how to communicate effectively. This new way of living allowed me to stop wasting time with arguments and meltdowns and find time for things I’m passionate about. Most importantly, I reconnected with my own motherly intuition and was able to understand what my daughter needed to heal.
This had a HUGE impact on my family. It wasn’t a magic bullet, and yet it was an enjoyable steady wave of momentum that continued to gently guide as we started sharing more moments of laughter, fun and relaxation together. As the months passed we all felt better and my daughter was able to wean off all of her seizure medication. We are now a completely different family.
3) Please let us know and describe one to three things that you are passionate about in what you do – (for work or for play or both)
I am passionate about inspiring others to see the potential inside of themselves. As a family health coach I focus on the highest and best version of my clients and watch how this loving attention opens up the channels of inspiration for them to recognize possibility within themselves. I have been in a tough place and have experienced the impact of having someone with clarity spotlight the potential within me and now my greatest joy comes from sharing that loving attention with others. It’s so fun to see people become eager and ready to step into living their Vibrant Life!
I am also passionate about spending time with my husband and four girls. We love to travel, ski, swim and play outside. Sharing moments of activity, relaxation and cuddles together makes my heart smile.
4) If you could give one piece of advice, one action to take, or one tool to empower people right now what would that be?
Allow yourself to receive. Be open to receiving love, support, companionship and more. Especially as women we are used to giving our time, our energy, our attention, our love to others and often times we forget the necessity of receiving. In my life, I have discovered the miraculous energizing impact of being open to receiving from others. Whether it be receiving carpooling rides from neighbors for kids activities, to receiving a treat for dinner, to receiving support from a coach. All of these opportunities to receive graciously expand our ability to increase our personal energy.
