What are your daily practices? Are you dreading getting out of bed and immediately going over your “to do” list in the shower? Do you take time to breathe, give thanks for waking up, the fact that you have food in your fridge, people you care about in your life and all the goodness in your life? Do you practice the things that bring you joy each and every day or do you feel those are a “luxury” you have no time for?
Keep in mind – “Energy flows where your attention goes!”
What we put our attention on and what we practice expands and becomes our reality. I saw a beautiful video on Facebook of a wise young boy talking about this which I have below. I also kept coming back to this fact in a workshop I taught last week so was inspired to offer you some ways to begin some powerful practices to start feeling empowered and in flow! I also have the Super Potent Full Moon Healing coming up which can help bring these practices into flow MUCH easier!
We tend to be creatures of habit. Some of these habits may have begun before we can even consciously remember and it feels so easy to keep doing the same thing. Not only does it feel easy, but when we get the idea to switch it up and follow up on it BOY do we meet resistance! It is that ego trying to keep us “safe” by repeating the familiar EVEN if the familiar has not done us any good in decades!
I watched a brilliant TED talk recently by Mel Robbins called, “The 5 Second Rule” which held SUCH an important message to push past this! I highly recommend watching it, but the key message is that if we push ourselves past that first uncomfortable 5 seconds to do that task – we will feel better once we are IN IT. 5 seconds is not too much to ask for and knowing we will feel better when we are on the other side SURE makes it easier to think about diving on in!!
I LOVE the 5 second rule and if you use that and practice these following steps, I feel pretty confident you will start practicing more positive habits which will lead to a life much more in flow and joy!
- Get Present. – You cannot adopt any new habit if you are ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. Turn your phone OFF, computer OFF, get seated and take some slow breaths with your hand on your heart. This is where the power lies – in your heart, in the present moment – anything can be created from here!
- Think about something you LOVE to do. – A “hobby” or something that brings you joy! It can be creating something by writing, drawing, coloring, cooking, etc. It can expressing yourself by dancing, singing, exercising, knitting, getting out in nature exploring, etc. It can be learning something new – a language you always wanted to pick up, a new hobby you’ve always wanted to try. Give yourself permission to book time for one or more of these things in the next 7 days and book it like an appointment. It can be 1/2 hour of time or even less if necessary. Your soul will thank you. When we are doing things we love we are connecting with our soul and you will be amazed at how, when we do this on a regular basis, how EVERYTHING in our life starts to align.
- Reach out to someone positive. – So many times as caregivers you can become your role; parent, spouse, co-worker, friend who endlessly gives advice, etc. You can lose who you are. Being around positive people inspires you and also connects you with the inner you. Make a lunch date or go for a walk or have a phone call with this person. Your soul will thank you.
- Meditate – Whether it be through a walk in nature, repeating a mantra for 10 minutes, doing a guided meditation, or participating in a group meditation as I offer for the Full Moon Distance Healing. By getting centered and being present it is making room for all the guidance and inspiration to come on in instead of drowning it out with noise, numbing and the constant pace you might feel determined to keep up.
These are four simple ways to begin to bring healthy practices into your life! Do these every day and wow will your life change quickly. Do these a few times a week and you will see things begin to shift. Do these even once a week and you will begin to feel lighter and know that you want to make even more time for YOU and all your awesomeness that is waiting to express itself!
